Woking's 2026 Christmas bin dates are not out yet. Last year every round from Christmas Day moved by a day or two until 10 January. Here is the full 2025 table.
Woking’s Christmas and New Year bin dates for 2026 have not been published yet. Woking Borough Council put out last year’s revised dates on 24 November 2025 and the year before’s on 15 November 2024, so expect this year’s in the second half of November. This page will carry them the day they appear.
The quick answer
- 2026 dates: not yet published. Last two years they came out on 15 November 2024 and 24 November 2025.
- Last Christmas, every round from Christmas Day onwards moved by one or two days, with Saturday collections, until Saturday 10 January.
- Christmas trees: real trees go in your garden waste bin, cut up and stripped of lights, or to the Martyrs Lane tip.
What is already fixed for Christmas 2026
Three things are settled even without the revised table.
- The bank holidays. Christmas Day is Friday 25 December 2026, the Boxing Day bank holiday moves to a substitute Monday 28 December, and New Year’s Day is Friday 1 January 2027 (GOV.UK). Friday and Monday bank holidays hit the rounds either side of a weekend, which is why last year’s changes ran into the second week of January.
- Which bin goes out which week. Woking’s rubbish and recycling alternate fortnightly. The Joint Waste Solutions 2026 collection calendar for Woking marks the week of Monday 21 December as a recycling week and the week of Monday 28 December as a rubbish week, before any festive changes.
- Who collects. Amey still runs the rounds for Joint Waste Solutions this Christmas. Veolia does not take over until June 2027 (our report on the new contract).
Last year’s changes, for reference only
These are the 2025/26 dates, not this year’s. They show the shape Joint Waste Solutions used: nothing moved before Christmas Day, then each day’s round slipped back, with Saturday collections, until normal service returned on Monday 12 January 2026 (Woking Borough Council, 24 November 2025).

The year before followed the same idea with different weekdays. In 2024/25 Christmas Day’s round went to Friday 27 December, Boxing Day’s to Saturday 28 December, and collections were back to normal from Monday 13 January 2025 (Woking Borough Council, 15 November 2024).
Both years the council asked for bins to be at the edge of the property by 6am on the revised day. Crews start early, so out the night before is the safe habit.
Christmas trees and extra waste
Garden waste subscribers can put a real Christmas tree in the garden waste bin. The council asks you to “remove all decorations and lights, chop branches into smaller pieces” first (Woking Borough Council). If you do not pay for garden waste, take the tree to Woking Community Recycling Centre on Martyrs Lane. Its Christmas hours are on our tip opening times page.

Still to be confirmed
- The 2026/27 revised collection table. Expected in the second half of November on the council’s newsroom and the Joint Waste Solutions service updates page.
- The date normal service resumes in January 2027.
