Horsell's Christmas market is Saturday 5 December, 12pm to 4pm, with 50-plus stalls. Woking's town centre market opens with the lights switch-on, date TBC.
Woking has two Christmas markets worth planning around. The one with a confirmed date is in Horsell, on Saturday 5 December 2026, from 12pm to 4pm, run by the Horsell Residents Association with more than 50 stalls. The other is the town centre market in Jubilee Square, which opens on the night of the council’s Christmas lights switch-on and stays for the festive season. That date is not announced yet.
The quick answer
- Horsell Christmas Market: Saturday 5 December, 12pm to 4pm, at Horsell Village Hall and Scout HQ, the Evangelical Church and along Horsell High Street. Over 50 stalls, live music, mulled wine, a classic car show and Father Christmas.
- Woking town centre: date TBC. The council’s market opens with the switch-on in Jubilee Square. The last four switch-ons were all on Thursdays in late November, and the date has been announced only six to nine days ahead.
- Is it on this year? Horsell, yes: the residents’ association has published the 2026 date and a provisional programme. The town centre market has run alongside every switch-on since at least 2022, but the council has not yet said anything about 2026.
Horsell Christmas Market, Saturday 5 December
The Horsell Residents Association lists “Christmas Market 2026, Saturday 5th December, 12 - 4pm” with “over 50 stalls” spread across three sites: Horsell Village Hall and Scout HQ, the Evangelical Church, and Horsell High Street itself (Horsell Residents Association). Expect live music, mulled wine, burgers, a classic car show and Father Christmas.
The association says the market exists to give local makers somewhere to sell, to bring extra trade to the High Street shops and “to brighten dull December days”. It pays for itself through stall fees and sponsorship from local shops and businesses, with some tables kept free for charities. It does not list an entry charge.
The entertainment programme
The association calls this programme provisional, so times may shift. Music runs on two stages: one at Massala Spice on the High Street and one in the Evangelical Church car park.
| Time | Massala Spice | Evangelical Church car park |
|---|---|---|
| 12pm | Horsell Sings! | Br5ss |
| 12.30pm | Bluestone Bills | |
| 1pm | Surrey Ukeaholics | |
| 1.30pm | Lost in Surrey | |
| 2pm | Some Voices | |
| 2.30pm | Almac Bisley Brass Band | |
| 2.45pm | Paradox Duo | |
| 3.30pm | U3A Ukuleles with a singalong and community carol singing |

Want a stall?
Stall enquiries go to xmas@horsellresidents.com. Bookings opened on 1 August, so with two months to go, ask before assuming there is space.
Getting there
The association has not published road closures or parking arrangements for the day. One of the two music stages is in the Evangelical Church car park, so do not count on parking there. If you are driving, our parking in Woking page covers the council car parks in the town centre, and the roadworks page has anything dug up on the way.
Woking town centre Christmas market, Jubilee Square
Woking Borough Council puts on a Christmas market with its tree lights switch-on, and it does not close the same night. For 2025 the council’s own event details read: “Christmas market: Open throughout the festive period” (Woking Borough Council, 2025). In 2024 it promised “a traditional Christmas market offering seasonal gifts and festive refreshments” that “will remain in town throughout the festive period” (Woking Borough Council, 2024).
2026: not yet announced. As at 6 October, the council’s newsroom carries nothing on this year’s switch-on or market. That is normal. The 2025 switch-on was on Thursday 20 November, and the council published it on 13 November. The years before followed the same pattern: Thursday 21 November 2024, 23 November 2023 and 24 November 2022, each announced about a week ahead. Our Christmas lights switch-on page has the full history and will carry the 2026 date the day it appears.
The council has not published the number of stalls, opening hours or a closing date for the market in any recent year, so we cannot give you those yet.
The covered Woking Market on Market Walk, off Jubilee Square, trades all year with 15 permanent kiosks, and the council says it has “additional space for seasonal stallholders”. It is open from 9.30am on weekdays, until 8pm on Thursdays (Woking Borough Council).
Elsewhere in the borough
- West Byfleet’s Christmas market and lights switch-on is run by volunteers from West Byfleet Together, separately from the council. The 2025 event was on Saturday 22 November. No 2026 date has been published; the details are on our switch-on page.
- St John’s West Byfleet Community Christmas Tree Festival runs from Saturday 5 to Tuesday 8 December, opening at 2.30pm each day, according to the Byfleet, West Byfleet and Pyrford Residents’ Association diary (the-residents.org). It is a tree festival rather than a market, and it clashes with Horsell on the Saturday.
- Goldsworth Park. Event listing sites show a Christmas market at St Andrew’s Church on Saturday 28 November, but we could not find it on the church’s own website, so it is not confirmed here. We will add it once the church or the Goldsworth Park Centre publishes it.
For the rest of the season, see our Santa’s grotto, pantomime and RHS Wisley Glow pages, and the what’s on in Woking listings.
What we will add
When the council announces the switch-on, this page gets the date, start time and any market hours. If Horsell’s programme is finalised, or if road closures or parking arrangements are published for either market, they go here too, with the source.
Running a Christmas market or fair in Woking or the villages? Email hello@wokingonline.co.uk with the date, times, venue and a link, and we will add it.
