Parking in Woking: every council car park compared, the approved 2026/27 tariffs, Woodlands Avenue rates, permits, blue badge rules and how to pay.
Parking in Woking is unusually simple to price and unusually easy to get wrong. Simple, because the borough scrapped its old per car park tariffs and now runs one charging structure across its town centre car parks, so an hour costs the same whether you use Victoria Place or Brewery Road. Easy to get wrong, because the bands are wide: the jump from three hours to six hours costs twice what the first hour does, and staying past six hours nearly doubles it again. This guide sets out the car parks, the charges approved for 2026/27, what permits cost, and where you can still park free, with every figure linked to the council’s own papers.
The charges for 2026/27
Woking rationalised its daily tariffs in 2025/26 using data from its new car park management system, deliberately pricing to support longer stays. For 2026/27 the council said it had hoped to lift prices by inflation alone, but that energy costs, town centre service charges and unbudgeted maintenance had all risen faster, so some bands went up more. It also said benchmarking put Woking on a par with, and in places cheaper than, Guildford and Camberley.

What it means for you: Sunday is the day to watch. On a Sunday there is no three hour band at all, so anything beyond the first hour costs a flat £4 whether you stay ninety minutes or all afternoon. On a weekday the same £4 buys you up to three hours, which makes a Sunday short stop relatively poor value and a Sunday long stop rather good.
Woodlands Avenue, West Byfleet
West Byfleet’s car park is priced on its own scale, and far more cheaply, because it competes with the station car park next door. For 2026/27 the council added a short stay option that residents had asked for.

The council’s stated aim is to let rail commuters use it alongside shoppers at a more competitive rate than the adjacent station car park, and it expects the change to lift the car park’s income from £57,500 to £63,500. Note the local restriction listed on the council’s Woodlands Avenue page: arrive before 9.30am on a weekday and the maximum stay is six hours.
What it means for you: £5 for a weekday all day and £2.50 for a whole Saturday makes Woodlands Avenue the cheapest parking in the borough by a distance. If you are travelling from West Byfleet rather than Woking station, it is the obvious choice.
The car parks themselves
Woking Borough Council runs eight car parks, four of them the colour coded decks at Victoria Place. The council’s own find a car park directory lists the size and access details for each.

All of them are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and all carry CCTV. The Red car park is the one to aim for if you need accessible parking or an electric bay: it holds 45 electric only spaces plus 18 combined disabled and electric bays, and the council has redirected EV charging from Brewery Road, Green and Yellow to Red while their chargers are out of service. Woking Park is the car park for Woking Leisure Centre, Pool in the Park and the park itself, and it has signposted coach spaces, though operators are asked to ring ahead.
Victoria Way car park is closed
If an old map or an out of date guide sends you to Victoria Way, do not go. The council closed it to inbound traffic from 5.30pm on Friday 14 February 2025, with full closure from Monday 17 February 2025, after a structural review found significant repairs were needed. The council was explicit that the condition did not pose a risk to public safety and that the closure was not related to reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete. Permit holders were moved to Victoria Place. At the time of closing, the council said six car parks still served the town centre with over 2,500 spaces between them (Victoria Way car park closure).
Permits and season tickets
If you park in Woking most days, a permit beats the daily tariff, though the gap is deliberately narrowing. In February 2025 the council agreed to cut the maximum permit discount over five years, to 40 per cent for residents, 30 per cent for public services, 25 per cent for individuals and a starting 20 per cent for businesses. The 2026/27 prices below are year two of that phasing, with annual rises capped at 20 per cent for high value permits and £100 for lower value ones.

Source: 2026/27 fees and charges, EXE26-018. Town centre permits are priced by the vehicle’s CO2 rating, so the same permit costs more for a dirtier car. Lowering the discounts is expected to raise permit income by £172,000 against the 2025/26 budget.
What it means for you: the 24 hour resident permit is the one that moved most, from £1,035 to £1,210. The council benchmarked that against Camberley at £1,530, Guildford at £2,944, Epsom at £2,550, Reigate at £1,365 and Esher at £660, so Woking sits mid table. At £264 the off peak resident permit remains the bargain of the list if your parking is genuinely off peak.
Free parking and blue badges
Three groups have historically parked free in Woking’s car parks, per the council’s car park fees and payment options page: motorbikes in allocated bays, blue badge holders who hold a car parks concessionary permit, and everybody on Christmas Day. Blue badge holders apply for that free town centre parking through the council’s blue badge holder parking page, which also links the separate on street badge scheme and Woking ShopMobility for scooter hire. Because the tariff structure has been reworked twice since those pages were written, check the sign at the machine before you rely on a free stay.
How to pay
Victoria Place, Heathside Crescent and Brewery Road take cash, notes and card at the pay stations, and card by contactless, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Heathside Crescent and the Victoria Place decks also run on the JustPark app, where you pay on exit rather than on arrival by entering the location ID shown at the machines. JustPark’s AutoPay logs your entry and exit and charges automatically on later visits, which removes the queue at the machine entirely.
Woking Park and Woodlands Avenue are different: they are pay and display, coins only at the machine, or cashless through RingGo on 01483 342 260 using location code 7002 for Woking Park and 7003 for Woodlands Avenue.

Which is the cheapest car park in Woking?
