No Cards for Good Causes Christmas shop in Woking this year: the charity found no venue. Nearest is Guildford from 15 October, and it wants offers of space.

There will be no Cards for Good Causes Christmas shop in Woking this year. The charity says it could not find a suitable place to open for the 2026 season, and it is asking landlords, businesses, churches and community groups in the town for help to bring the shop back.

The seasonal shop has sold Christmas cards and gifts in Woking for many years, raising money for a wide range of national and local charities. Cards for Good Causes said it knows the news “will be disappointing” for the customers and volunteers who have supported it, and that the charity is “equally disappointed not to be returning”.

It hopes to come back, either later this year if a venue turns up quickly or in 2027.

What the charity is looking for

A spokesperson for Cards for Good Causes said:

“We are particularly keen to hear from landlords, businesses, churches, community organisations or anyone who knows of a suitable retail or community space in Woking. Our seasonal shops operate for a relatively short period in the run-up to Christmas, and we are happy to discuss different types of premises and partnership arrangements.”

“If you have a potential venue or know of a suitable space that could help us return to Woking, we would be delighted to hear from you.”

The charity’s shops elsewhere show how flexible that can be. Its 2026 shop finder lists Christmas shops this season in libraries, parish churches, a guildhall and a museum, as well as a shopping centre unit.

Do not go looking for it in Victoria Place

When we checked the charity’s shop finder on 13 October, it still carried a Woking entry: Unit 21B, Bandstand Walk, Victoria Place Shopping Centre, opposite Rymans, “open now until 15th December”. The charity’s own announcement says there will be no Woking shop this year, so treat that listing as out of date.

Where to buy instead

The nearest shop this Christmas is in Guildford, at St Nicolas Parish Church, the charity says. Its shop finder gives these dates and hours, checked on 13 October:

  • Opens: Thursday 15 October, until Saturday 19 December
  • Monday to Saturday: 10am to 4pm
  • Sundays: 11am to 3pm, in the weeks the listing gives as 16 November to 7 December

The full range of Christmas cards and gifts is also sold online at cardsforcharity.co.uk, with delivery. The shop finder says delivery is free on orders over £40.

What it means for you

  • If you bought your charity Christmas cards at the Woking shop, the closest counter this year is in Guildford town centre, or you can order online.
  • If you manage an empty shop, a church hall or any community space in Woking that could host a shop for a few weeks before Christmas, the charity wants to hear from you, for this year or for 2027.
  • Cards for Good Causes thanked its Woking customers and volunteers “for their continued support and understanding” and says it hopes to return to the town “in the near future”.
