Boccia, adapted cycling, walking football, adapted rounders and table tennis, 10:30am to 4pm on Tuesday 25 August at Woking Sportsbox. Adults £12, under-18s £7, carers free.

LinkAble, the Woking charity for people with a learning disability and autistic people, holds its third Inclusive Games on Tuesday 25 August, 10:30am to 4pm, at Woking Sportsbox on Egley Road (GU22 0AF), next to Hoe Valley School. The charity’s event page lists five sports for the day: boccia, accessible cycling on adapted bikes from Wheels for All, walking football, adapted rounders and table tennis. Everyone Active, which now runs the Sportsbox along with the borough’s other leisure centres, is the event partner.

The Games are open to anyone, LinkAble says: “People of all ages, disabled and non-disabled, are invited.” Tickets are £12 for adults, £7 for under-18s and free for carers, bought through the event page. The cheaper early-bird prices (£10 and £5) are already listed as unavailable.

What is new this year

The main change for 2026 is a dedicated children’s area with picnic space, stalls and games, where parents stay with their children and LinkAble staff are on hand. Within it, the charity is setting up what it calls “a calming sensory space, with soothing lighting and sensory toys, so anyone who needs time out knows there is a safe space for them”.

Two of the sports are new to the line-up. Adapted rounders is played “with light, soft balls and adjustments like closer bases so everyone can join in”, and table tennis “can be played standing or sitting”. Boccia, walking football and Wheels for All cycling all return from last year. The detailed schedule is still marked “coming soon” on the event page, so check back before you travel.

How last year went

The Games grew out of a Paralympics-themed community fun day at the Sportsbox in August 2024. LinkAble’s own report of the 2025 event says more than 100 people took part on Tuesday 26 August 2025, trying boccia, walking football, table cricket run by Surrey Cricket, golf with Get Golfing and adapted bikes from Wheels for All. Medals were handed out by Will Forster, the MP for Woking, and the then Mayor, Cllr Amanda Boothe. The charity credited a £1,000 donation from Seymours Estate Agents and volunteers from The Fidelis Partnership, Active Surrey and FE fundinfo for making the day possible.

The charity’s chief executive, Sue, said afterwards: “With such high demand, we’ll definitely be back in 2026, even bigger and better.” That is the promise this month’s event is meant to keep.

About LinkAble

LinkAble is registered charity number 1119596, based at The Link on Board School Road in Woking. Its adult programme, No Limits, runs daytime, evening and weekend groups through the week, from gardening and woodwork to a Tuesday evening Boccia Club from 6pm to 7pm, which the charity suggests as a place to practise before the Games. It also runs children’s and young people’s services and holiday activities.

What it means for you

  • If you or someone you support has a learning disability or is autistic, this is a rare day when the sports are set up for you rather than adapted as an afterthought. Carers go free.
  • If you are a family looking for a school-holiday day out, the Games fall on a weekday in the last stretch of the summer break, and the new children’s area is designed for younger siblings and for anyone who needs a quiet break.
  • Getting there: the Sportsbox is on Egley Road on the south side of the town, next to Hoe Valley School. If you are driving in from the town centre, check our Woking roadworks and travel page for the week’s closures, and parking in Woking if you are combining the trip with the town centre.
  • One thing to know before you book: LinkAble says photographers will be present and that images may be used in marketing by LinkAble, Everyone Active, Wheels for All and Active Surrey. Ask on the day if you would rather not be photographed.
